FLYING TO TROMSO:  

First fly to Oslo, then from Oslo to Tromso. SAS (www.flysas.com) and Norwegian (www.norwegian.no) both fly several times a week or daily from the biggest cities in central europe  to Oslo with connecting flights to Tromso. In Winter there is also a route from Helsinki to Tromso with Finnair.

 

TO TROMSO WITH HURTIGRUTA:

if you want to experience a Hurtigruten voyage – just stop at Tromso and enjoy some days at Vollsteinen.

 

BY BUS TO OLDERVIK:

From the airport you can either catch the Flybussen in front of the Terminal or take the local busses No 42 (timetable) or 40 (timetable), where you have to cross the parking hall No 1/2 in the basement. They all take about 15 minutes to the city center.

The prices for the Flybussen are 70 NOK for adults and you can take two children up to 16yrs with you. A return ticket is 100 NOK. The price for the local busses are 42 NOK into town. Click here for an airport map.

The bus number 450 departs several times each weekday and once on Saturdays from Tromso to Oldervik. Click here for the timetable.  The bus company is Troms Fylkestrafikk and our usual bus drivers are called ‘Svein-Egil’, ‘Jorn’ and ‘Tore’.

Catch the bus from “Prostneset” the main bus terminal in the centre of Tromso (the busstop to choose is the one next to the tourist information office).  The price bus tickets to Oldervik are  NOK 100.- for adults, halfprice for children and discounts for pensioners (over 67 yrs) and groups (4+ people).  If you plan to use the bus a lot, it could be worth buying a Troms Kort, which gives you a discount off multiple fares.

Please note: The last bus on weekdays departs at 4.15pm and the bus timetable is subject to change during holiday periods so don’t get caught out!

BY TAXI:

You’ll find a taxi rank right outside the airport terminal. Taxi rates are roughly NOK 1500.-

on weekdays but more at weekends and holidays.

HIRING A CAR:

There is a whole array of hire-car desks at Tromso airport including Hertz, Avis, Sixt and Europcar. Rates are much cheaper if you book in advance or through an on-line agent.
